Under the coordination of the Ministry of Economy and TIM as the organizer, developing a design event to bring design together with various industries.
To create an important platform for raising awareness to the power of design, to establish a design culture and to emphasize its potential contribution to our economy and our civilization by providing a competitive advantage.
During Design Week Turkey, a 5 day event, panels and conferences were organized with world renown professionals from sectors such as design, fashion, visual communication design and architecture; in addition, there were exhibitions of designers, local and foreign design offices, artists, universities, design schools, design platforms plus works and projects of design contests’ finalists including installations specially prepared for Design Week Turkey; the event was also enriched with national/international projects from design offices awarded by prominent global design contests, and an exlusive event – “Finland Day” with the participation of famous designers and brands from Finland.
In the event, 32 conferences and panels were held and 101 world renown speakers from industrial, fashion, visual communication and architectural design shared their experiences. More than 40,000 visitors viewed the installations exclusively organized for the event and 14 workshops bringing together designers working on different disciplines and 17 exhibitions in various fields from handcraft to digital and from artisanship to artificial intelligence while exhibiting the future trending works of 52 designers and design offices. During the event, in which the design departments of the universities showed great interest, students as future designers had the opportunity to have interactive conversations with experts. Students also had the chance to gain experience in many issues such as exhibition organization and communications with private sector, and they also showed great interest in workshops nurturing creative ideas. Event’s guest country Finland’s 100 year-old history was shared with participants by deep rooted institutions and speakers.
